Travel InformationSwitzerland has 3 different airports: Zürich (main airport), Basel and Geneva. There is also a small airport near Bern with three daily flights to Munich (operated by Lufthansa).Bern is easily reachable by all the 3 main airports from where direct trains to Bern normally leave at least once per hour: Zürich Airport - Bern, at 13 and 39 every hour, travel time 1h20 Geneva Airport - Bern, at 36 every hour, travel time 1h50 Train tickets from and to the airports are about CHF 50.-- (~EUR 30.--) each. For more information see also: SBB. Cars can be rented at each airport. Travel times by car to Bern are about the same as with the trains. Please check whether you need your passport and a visa to enter Switzerland! Travelling in BernTaxis: Taxis rates are quite high (CHF 6.40 base + CHF 3.40 to CHF 3.80 per KM).Public transportation: Bern has a dense and modern public transportation system. The train station ("Hauptbahnhof") is located in the city centre from where you can also directly access the University and the historic town. Location of the ConferenceThe conference will be hold at the University's main building (called "Hauptgebäude" or "HG") in the street called "Hochschulstrasse" number 4. You can reach it from inside the main station ("Hauptbahnhof") by an elevator (follow the signs "Universität"). You'll exit the elevator ("Lift zum Bahnhof") in front of the university's main building. It's also possible to reach the university by public transportation (line number 12, station "Universität").Plans to print are also available: Info about Bern and SwitzerlandTourist information: Currency:Currency in Switzerland is "Swiss Francs" (CHF). Euros are accepted almost everywhere. Exchange rates can be found at: x-rates.com ATM machines either provide Swiss Francs or often also Euros and are located all over the city. |
